This project came about somewhat suddenly although it is one that I had been wanting to do for awhile now. Yesterday we ended up getting a little ice storm, I had a sick kid and there was no school. I needed to do something. So I tackled a project I had been meaning to do for awhile. Label my spices and pantry items. Or I should say re-labeling.
Awhile ago - actually way back at the old house - I found a site that had printable spice and pantry labels while I loved. I was all for it and used them but then I discovered I was limited by what I could label. I had Panko bread crumbs and cornstach and those weren't items that she had made labels for. I used dry erase markers and labeled the containers myself but I really hated it.
It actually wasn't until we moved that I realized how little I was using the Silhouette that I had. And this was the perfect project for that. So I got to work. I found a font that I loved and made a list of all the items I currently needed labels for and got to work.
All in all this is a really easy project, it was just a matter of me making time to actually do it.
I used the font I found and just stated typing them out in my Silhouette program. After creating all the labels I sent them to print then to cut on my Silhouette (which actually took long than I expected). Then I was all set.
Of course I had to take off the old labels before I could put on my new one and that was the job I was really dreading but I got to work.
I thought at first the original labels were going to be fairly easy to get off but I guess I was seriously mistaken because it was definitely taking some time. The job would have been made easier had I had some stuff that actually takes sticky off but I did and hello ice storm - so I made due.
I definitely prefer the way it looks now. It's going to take me some time to get through all the spice containers I already have, plus all the pantry items with labels already but I definitely love how ti looks so much better.
So that was my ice storm day projects. I had about a thousands things I should have been doing including cleaning bathrooms and vacuuming the bedroom level but I decided do to this. Of course I'm not done because it's just going to take some time to get through everything but I'm definitely loving it so far.
