My Love

I am in love. I am absolutely and totally in love. No, not with Rob. Wait, no, I mean I am in love with Rob. But this particular post has nothing to do with Rob. Although I'm sure he has his opinions on this particular love of mine, but you can't deny how you feel.

Before you guys freak out unnecessarily, there is no problems in paradise. Rob and I are great. And of course I'm not talking about a guy at all. I'm talking about my favorite movie. I'm talking about Julie & Julia. So Rob definitely has his opinions about this movie that he has seen too many times in his life. He argues that I am far too obsessed with this movie, but hey we like what we like and when I like something I want to get as much as I can.

So now as the movie plays before me, I have to say that this is the movie that has inspired me to really try and learn how to cook. I always knew the importance of learning to cook and eating in. But I never really cared enough to really learn. Until I really started watching this movie.

But wait first, let's start from the beginning....

The first time I watched this movie I didn't really care much for it. In fact it took everything I had to continue watching the movie because I just didn't think it was interesting. I have always like Amy Adams so I was fine on that end but I didn't care for the Julia Child story and I found her a bit annoying, I'm sorry to say. But then a few years later I decided to watch it again. I don't remember if it was because I forgot that I had seen it or if I decided to give it another chance. But regardless of the reason why, I decided to watch it again and it was the best decision ever. And it was at that point that I decided that I really did like the movie.

So one day when we were out and about it was on sale pretty cheap, and I liked it well enough to get it from the store. But it took quite awhile before I actually watched it. But then I did and I fell completely and totally head over heels in love. And thus began my beautiful relationship with this movie. It became my comfort movie. It became my go-to movie. It just plain became my favorite movie.

For the longest time I every time I watched this movie, I would get inspired to learn how to cook and I was inspired to even eat (which if you know me at all then you know that I pretty much eat to survive because otherwise I don't really care for it). But the food in this movie looks so delicious. I want to eat all the food in this movie. And it was actually from this movie that I first really tried my hand as a different kind of cooking.

In the beginning of the movie, Amy Adams' character makes bruschetta and I so wanted to try and make it. It just looked so good. So that was first thing that I really attempted to make that was outside the realm of what I normally have made in the past. So that's exactly what I tried. Only, I figured that I needed to make it with something, so I attempted to make my bruschetta and spaghetti with broccoli and lemon. And it didn't go well. It was burnt and just not all that great. And I made it again in a more recent 'How to Boil Water.'  But each time I have made it, I have gotten better. So maybe I should devote a 'How to Boil Water' to my awesome bruschetta recipe and how good and amazing it is!

But the point is that that was first thing that I really tried cooking and now look at me. My cooking has improved. My recipes have become more advance. And I would be lying if I said that I didn't have some Julia Child's books on my Christmas list. So this movie is the one I go to when I need inspiration. But sometimes I just watch it because I love it.

So I know I am always trying to influence you to try my recipes and the like, and I'm going to do this again and influence you to watch this movie if you haven't. And even if you have then you should do it again. I feel like cooking right now. Heck, I even feel like eating right now.

And favorite line from the movie: "You are so not under the influence of Julia right now."
