Time is just flying by I guess. But apparently not fast enough. I wish I could say that with week nine, a whole bunch has changed and I feel like me again. But let's just face it, I'm still in my first trimester. It was definitely a better week. But I still had a couple days of morning sickness. And the exhaustion is definitely still in full force. Plus now my face is breaking like I'm a teenager again. Overall, it was a decent week. I've been feeling better, but I still get those reminders that I'm preggo. But at least my appetite has come back. And I'm craving vegetables and fruits. Go figure. I ate a whole can of French-cut green beans the other night and a few nights later I ate the whole can of peaches. I guess I should count myself lucky I'm craving the stuff that's actually good for me.
Weight gain is something that is often talked about when it comes to pregnancy. I think for some women it is a fear because all that weight you gain, you have to lose after the baby. I wouldn't necessarily say it's a fear for me. It's just a reality. But that doesn't stop me from getting on the scale each morning to see if there has been any weight gain yet. I can happily say, no there hasn't. In fact I've lost a couple pounds. But I have been getting sick more lately too, so that does make sense. In fact, many women actually lose some weight in their first trimester during to morning sickness. But the baby is so small that weight gain isn't actually necessary during the first trimester because he/she doesn't need much right now. However, as you get into the second trimester, you start putting on weight - not pig out and eat whatever you want weight - but healthy, good nutrients weight. But the goal to a good pregnancy and weight gain is putting on the weight slowly, but steady. A pound or two a week. For a average, healthy woman, the estimate is the she should gain between 25-35 pounds total. By doing it that way, it will make it easier to lose the weight post-baby and you may not get as many stretch marks and issues with a gradual increase. It's funny discussing this now. I've never been through a pregnancy - duh - so what I know is all from things I have read and information I have collected from my doctor. Which might all make it easier than it sounds to not pack on the extra weight. But my goal is to have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby, which means eating the right foods and trying not to eat too many empty calories. It's all been quite a learning experience for me. There is a lot of information to take it and it definitely gets overwhelming, but I'm taking what I learn and doing the best I can towards doing the right things.
