How 'Bout Them Reads: In the Woods

This book was given to me. I had never heard of it. I probably would not have picked it for myself, therefore it wasn't on my to-read book list (which seem to be constantly growing). But as I said it was given to me so I thought I would give it a try. And for some reason this book took me longer than any other book so far this year. I'm not saying it was bad. It really wasn't. It was interesting. Yes, let's go with interesting.

It's hard to write about this book without giving anything big away really, so I'll tell you the gist - basically what's written on the back of the book.

Detective Rob Ryan and his his partner, Cassie Maddox are called to the scene of a crime in a small Dublin neighborhood. They were investigating the death of a young girl inspiring to be a ballet dancer. They started looking into this case but are getting no where quickly. But for Rob, this case hits really close to home. When he was twelve and at that time going by Adam, he and two of his closest friends go into the same woods where this young girl was discovered, but only Rob (Adam) comes out, hanging close to a tree with no memory of what happened.

Yup, that's all you're getting. Like I said if I go into anymore detail then it actually would pretty much ruin the book...possibly. But seriously what are the chances any of you are even going to read this book? Either way, it could happen and I don't want to ruin it for you. The ending was interesting. I wasn't surprised completely by how it ended with the case but the book ending in general was a bit different and not completely satisfyingly.

There is a book, The Likeness, that follows this book and start six months after this case with Cassie Maddox telling the story instead of Rob Ryan. To be honest, I haven't decided if I'll read it or not. Part of me, does want to because this was an interesting book and I did like the character of Cassie but part of me isn't sure I want back into this world. I guess if I decide to, you'll know. But until then I'm ready to move on. After all I am now halfway to my reading goal and five books ahead of schedule. Gotta keep reading!
