How 'Bout Them Reads: I'll Walk Alone

I went with a little Mary Higgins Clark. I figured how could I go wrong? I had only a a couple books I was going to leave out with all the packing and moving, so she was one of them. Plus, I figured it was going to be a scary book I had to read it before Rob was gone for annual training or gone in general ever because I don't want to read something that is going to freak me out while he's gone. I will go no sleep. However, this book was less on the scary side and more on the you knew all the parts of the puzzle - mostly - and you were just waiting for everyone else to figure out. Plus to figure out who the ultimate bad guy was.

Zan Moreland has had a very hard life. She worked for a man who was mean and kept her constantly working, so much so that she barely got the chance to take a vacation. When she was finally able to take a vacation, she went to visit her parents who live in Rome. But on their way to the airport to pick her up her dad suffered a heart attack and they were both killed in a car accident. Fast forward and she got married. She realized her husband only married her for her and they weren't really meant for each other, so she left him. It was shortly after she left him that she found out she was pregnant. She opened her own interior design business and it seemed that she had it all. But suddenly her son was kidnapped out of his stroller one afternoon in the park when his babysitter fell asleep at the park.

What happened to her son plagued her for the last two years. Suddenly on her son's birthday, photos surfaced that seemed to show that Zan kidnapped her own sleeping child from his stroller. All fingers are pointed towards her and she keeps pleading her innocence and all she wants is her son back safely. Her life is falling apart around her. She is being investigated as more information surfaces, pointing fingers towards her, plus her accounts are being hacked and her bank accounts are being emptied. Can Zan get anyone to believe her that she had nothing to do with the disappearance of her son and that there is someone else pretending to be her out there before she is locked up for good?

I enjoyed this book. I often do enjoy books by Mary Higgins Clark though. She is much like Nora Roberts to me. I know I'm going to enjoy the book before I even pick it up. However, I only pick up Mary Higgins Clark if Rob is around because otherwise she can scare the bejesus out of me.
