Dear Addie:
You are four months, my beautiful girl! And you have so much life in you. You barely seem like the same baby from even a month ago. I can't believe how much you change every day. You are still a daddy's girl. You love love love your daddy. You love daddy kisses. You love daddy hugs. You love daddy cuddles. Although you have been lovin' a lot more on your mama! Apparently no matter how much you love your daddy, there is no one like your mama! It makes me feel pretty awesome that sometimes I am the one person that can make you smile without fail. The only problem with that is that you tend to smile at me when I'm trying to sing you to sleep. I don't know why you do that but I'll look over and you have this big, silly smile on your face while I'm trying to get you to sleep.
You have been going through what they call the 4-month wakeful period. And you are killing me, smalls. You want to see everything. You want to interact. You want to play. You want to watch. You want to laugh and smile. You certainly don't want to nap. It makes for some long days, but we keep busy. We have been reading the first Harry Potter and rocking. You like that or at least you like looking at your bright yellow room while I read. We have been doing a lot of singing. We sing all the time. And unfortunately I'm not the best at coming up with a song on the spot, which is why we have been singing 'Take Me Out to the Ball Game' a lot! You seem to like it though, so we go with it. We talked about taking our show on the road, but decided it might be left for the changing table. We have also been doing some tummy time, but you still hate that. However, you are getting so strong and I love how you are getting better at holding up your head. We have also been watching VeggieTales, Pocahontas, and The Chipmunk Adventure. You love all the colors and voices and songs. Sometimes it makes me feel terrible for just putting you in front of the TV, but sometimes I have to do what I have to do and believe that I'm not rotting your brain. It's not like we do it all day long!
Even though you are refusing to nap, you are sleeping at night like a pro! Usually somewhere between 9:30 and 10:00 we put you down and you sleep until 5:30 or 6:00. Then right after you get up and eat six ounces, you go right back down and I don't hear from you until about 9:00. It is awesome. Of course we have those nights when you get up at 2:30 or 3:30 and our sleeping schedule is thrown off, but for the most part our awesome sleeping is more regular than not. Which I love!
You have been laughing like crazy. You are a little giggle machine. Just one day you started giggling. You love to stand too. There was one day that that was all you wanted to do. Every time I gave my arms a break you started crying, but I would stand you up again and you would start giggling. It was exhausting but totally worth it.
I say this every month and I will probably continue to say this, but I can't believe how much you have changed. And I love seeing how much more of your personality is coming out. You are active. You are smiling. You are laughing. You are a tiny little person. You are an awesome tiny little person. Every day I love you more and more, and I can't wait to see how much more you change in the next month!
