And that break came last Thursday when Rob and I got to have a date night. My parents graciously offered to watch Addie (I know it was simply terrible to watch such a cute little girl!) giving Rob and me the chance to go out for the evening.
Originally we were talking about going out to eat at a nice place, probably Carrabba's just because that's one of our favorites, then going to see a movie. But after further discussion, we decided on a throwback to our first date and a movie. So where was our first date meal? Wendy's. Where else? It may not be fancy or expensive or anything special, but that first date we sat there (after going to Science City) and talked for a couple hours. To us Wendy's is special. (It also so happens to be the place where I had my first meal after having Addie and no longer having to worry about gestational diabetes!)
The other reason behind the Wendy's choice is so that when we could go to the movies I could have more popcorn because I wouldn't be so full. We just figured we could always order Carrabba's to go or if we were really crazy we could always take Addie with us, but it is much harder to do either with the movies. I have a love of movie theater popcorn and have a tendency to eat almost the entire bag of large - don't judge!
Our night out was great. We went out to eat then went to a park and walked for a little bit just talking (it was a beautiful day) then we went to the movies. It was actually strange not having Addie with us. I almost felt like a piece was missing. It was great having a night out for ourselves (although I did peek in on Little Bit when I got home because she was already in bed and fast asleep so cute!).
So for those having a baby soon: things are going to change. They are going to change for the better. You will have trouble remembering a time before your kid. I know I do. But there will be times when you wish that you just had a little peace. When you could just have your husband (or wife - for all you male readers out there) to yourself. My advice: find a good babysitter. Grandparents are always more than willing.
