I am a reader - not a huge revelation here. I always have a book started. Recently I was having trouble deciding on what to read so I started six books. After starting all these books, I decided that I was crazy and needed to read one at time. So my goal lately has been to get through all six of these books. I am down to my last two books: Mercy by Jodi Picoult and Emma by Jane Austen. Emma is living in Addie's room, while Mercy is my all the time book. But let's forget about Emma right now and talked about Mercy. I had previous started Mercy before the crazy six book chaos, but when I started reading I decided to just start from the beginning because I just didn't remember it.
However, I noticed a problem, I didn't get the book. I found it to be confusing. But I just kept going with it because I thought the book would work itself out. Turns out the book was never going to work its way out. It turns out I'm a dork. One day I was laying on Addie's floor, she was playing and I decided to do a little reading. I flipped through it from the back [like I always do] and found my bookmark. I read a page or two then the worst happened: I dropped the book and lost my page! Disaster! I had no idea what page I was on but the only way to figure it out was start flipping through book and try and find my page. And while I was flipping looking for page, I found a second bookmark! What? A second bookmark?
That, my friends, is why my book was making NO sense whatsoever. I had been going back and forth between the two bookmarks every time I read without realizing it. It does explain why I thought I was on page 100 and then the next time I looked I was only on page 46. I just figured I had looked at it wrong or had looked at another book. Nope, I was really on two different pages. I was really reading from two different parts of the book every other time I read. That revelation cleared up a lot of confusion for me. Anyone else done that? I can't be the only one that has ever done that! Or am I?
Oh well, turns out I'm a dork. But I have it straightened out now, so now on to our pink. In case you are just checking in, Addie and I are wearing pink every Friday in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness, so without further ado....
Remember to wear your pink.
Beware of second bookmarks.
Happy Friday.
Have a great weekend.
