1. When I was in school, I always looked forward to summer vacation. When I started working summers full time in college, I started looking forward to school. When I left school, I missed having something to look forward to in terms of an extended break. Now I was in the real and had to use my limited vacation time wisely. Then I became a mom and lost even those limited vacation weeks. I love my kid but I kind of miss having those summer breaks to look forward to. Heck, there are days when I would gladly take those limited vacation weeks again. I guess it's all part of growing up and putting a little life ahead of your own desire for peace, quiet, and relaxation.
2. Addie seems to think that she is above clapping. She can do it. We have seen her do it. But because she doesn't find a point in it, she doesn't. And I seriously mean, doesn't! We have seen her clap exactly one time. She can high-five. And she likes watching me clap, but she has no interest in clapping. Did I mention I have a weird kid?
3. Just recently J.K. Rowling has come out to say that she regrets putting Ron and Hermione together but that it should have been Hermione and Harry. I was always in the Hermione and Harry camp and was disappointed by the Ron/Hermione coupling. Of course there's nothing to be done about it now, but a girl can wish of a different world where Harry and Hermione are together and not Ron and Hermione. But that's just me.
4. The smell of garlic and onion cooking up in olive oil is one of my favorite smells in the world. It's how I start almost every meal and I love it.
5. I love reading, but I hating starting a new book. It always seems to be the same pattern. Who. What. When. Where. They all start pretty much the same, and I struggle to really get into the book at first. But I always keep going. (My original reading challenge goal for the year was 15 books, but I have ready four books this month, so I decided to up it. My new reading challenge is 26 books. I got this!)
6. I love the Olympics. I'm actually a big fan of watching curling. So I'm excited that they are finally here. So Addison and I might be watching a little more TV than normal so we can check out some of the sports.

Dear Becca,
ReplyDeleteYou need to learn about something called "Grandma and Papa CAMP for Kids"
It is a safe, reliable, and FREE opportunity for parents to get a "break."
I would gladly give Jan and Roger a glowing reference if needed...
