But we all know why we have kids.
It's to get free cake.
Right?
Is that just us?
Okay so maybe the cake is just a bonus.
Here's the story.....
For Rob's birthday we went to Smokehouse with my parents. We were finishing up, and we wanted to see if Addison would try a pickle. I mean what parent wouldn't want to feed their daughter a pickle? So Rob cut it up with Addison's fork and put a piece on it. He reached over and tried to feed it to her. Addison wasn't having any of it. She kept leaning back until she couldn't go back any further. Rob ends up getting her in the lip with a fork. She didn't like that. But really who does like getting stabbed in the lip with a fork?
At the same time, the waitress comes back to the table and asks us if we wanted any dessert. Cake perhaps? As we were declining, the waitress addressed Addison directly about cake. Now remember she's still upset about the fork incident, and this was just too much. She gets a big pouty lip. She starts looking around frantically, lip out as far as she could get it, and whimpering. No actual tears or crying but right there.
The waitress instantly starts feeling horrible. She bends down to Addison and asks her if she wants cake. She doesn't want to upset her. Or upset her anymore than she thought she already had. She then proceeds to ask her - or actually me - if she liked chocolate. Sure, she likes chocolate. As it turns out mama likes chocolate too. The waitress hurries off to get her some cake.
I'm thinking Addison's going to get an Addison-size cake. I was already planning on how to get some bites out of her cake.
So we get the cake and head on our way. Once out of the restaurant, I peek at the cake. It's not an
Addison-size cake as I thought. It was a full-size, awesomely big piece of cake. I didn't need to make any more plans to steal cake. Addison sure wasn't eating that much of it. Mama was going to get some cake after all!
So we ended up all enjoying that awesome piece of cake. It was definitely enjoyed by all.
We are thinking of taking her to Dairy Queen soon and see if we can get a free ice cream using what we call "The Pickle Effect."
Let them us eat cake.
Have a awesome 4th of July.
Have a great weekend!
Happy Friday....err, Thursday!
