Addison Sophia: 28 Months

Dear Addie::

For some reason each month when this day comes around I have a hard time believing that you are actually another month older. I have an even harder time believing that we are heading towards 3. You should still be my tiny baby I used to rock in my arms. Now you are a curious, smart, adventurous 2 year old. How did that happen?

You change so much from month to month. Last month was a horrible month filled with temper tantrums and little sleep. This month has been filled with more talking, sleeping, and adventure. You have started sleeping again. We are keeping that gate up at your door for awhile still but you are going to sleep on your own again. Sometimes on the floor, sometimes in your chair and sometimes you climbing into bed but hey as long as you are asleep and staying that way through the night you would sleep standing up. Nap times are a bit more interesting because we now call them quiet time. We tell you that you don't have to sleep but you have to stay in your room. There are some days that you play withe dollhouse. There are some days that you look at books. And there are other days that I find you fast asleep. It definitely varies but it seems to be working so I'm going with it.

You have been showing your two year old self though which has resulted in you losing almost all of  your books out of your room. There was a couple weeks where every other day I was going into your room to find a book pulled apart and shredded. I'm no sure what you were thinking, but you just started destroying books. You have never had a problem like this. You have always been very gentle with paper back books. But since I was tired of cleaning up the mess and seeing my childhood books destroyed you now can only have board books in your room until you are old enough to handle all your books again.

You have been loving the playroom recently. You crawl up the stairs then close the door behind you and I can hear you in there playing. Every so often I'll go and check on you and you'll get angry that I opened the door and interrupted your time and went into your space. Apparently mama's aren't invited to playtime. You have recently also become obsessed with Toy Story and Cars. You laugh your way through both movies. I guess we're done with princesses for now.

As far as talking is concerned you have come so far. You are trying to say so many more words. You are repeating more words. You are less interested in doing sign language and more interested in actually talking. Your vocabulary now includes: Stella (della), airplane, cracker, down, cat, cow, puppy (pup pup), coco, go away. Not that all of those are useful but at this point I don't care. I'm just happy you are starting to talk. It's amazing to hear your voice.

You are getting so brave these days. You are climbing more. You are wanting to find more adventure. You do more pretend play. Your love of books is still the same. You get so excited every single time you hear the garage door go up and your daddy comes home from work. You are basically attached at my hip most days. You like to help. You are curious.

I just love to watch you discover the world around you and continue to grow. You are changing all the time and becoming an amazing human being. I can't wait to see what you are going to do next. I love you so much, kid.

Love, Mama
