This year she went back to the same school she was in the year before but this time she was a peer kid having officially been discharged from her IEP the previous year. And she loved school from the first day. Their class was bigger this year and she made friends again quickly.
I don't see the physical changes that I have noticed in the past years but she has definitely come so far and is ready for kindergarten. She is writing. She is reading. She is doing basic math. She has skills that even put her ahead heading into kindergarten. But she's ready for whatever challenge comes next.
I am just so proud of her and how well she has done. She is heading into kindergarten with the IEP way behind her and her future teachers wouldn't even be able to guess all she went through to get her to this point. She is so smart and ready for more learning and all that comes next.
We are so proud of her. She is an amazing girl. I asked her if she was going to miss her friends and teachers, but her answer was just that she was excited to go to her new school and she would make new friends. She's tough and smart and I can't even begin to explain how amazing she is. I feel so lucky to be her mom, even on the days that we butt heads all days.
But for now we are all ready for summer and less driving back and forth for drop off and pick up.
