First day

I survived my first day at work. There really was never any doubt but I just thought I would clear that up right now. : )

But seriously, it was good. I learned a lot and took in a lot, but it was good. It will be a fairly low-stress job for the most part which is a nice perk. There was lots of people around so it's not like spending the day by myself in my apartment with nothing to do. I just get to spend half the day in my apartment with nothing to do. Mostly kidding about that by the way.

I think I'm going to enjoy it though. The people are nice. The location is good. The hours are good. There really isn't nothing bad about this job that I have seen yet. There's not really much to say, so yeah....

Just wanted to give a quick update on my first day today. It's been awhile since I've worked and all, and some of you think I'm lazy but look at me now! : )

Didn't think it was a possible did ya? Well, neither did I.

Now for all of those out there do read my blog without me even realizing it I feel it's necessary to inform you all  - I am now employed at Hillcrest Christian Church Monday through Friday from 9am to 2pm. Yes, the unemployable to now employed! And what is more is that they even know about my two weeks off for the wedding and me taking a few classes this fall, and they still wanted to hire me! I'm pretty pumped right now actually. I think it might just be a beautiful day!

"Just living in not enough. One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower." -Hans Christian Andersen

So here's what's up with me....

I just recently quit my job at the National WWI Museum. My last day is Wednesday, February 2. So what am I doing next? That's a good question and if you figure out the answer before I do. Please let me know. I'm just as confused about that as everyone else, but I have the most loving fiancee, who is allowing me to quit with no job lined up so I can figure out what I actually want to do. I'm looking into volunteering at a couple different places around Olathe for now and school is definitely in my future for next fall as a medical assistant. But for tomorrow or the next day, who knows. I'm just playing one day at a time. But I do know that I won't be leaving the state of Kansas again to work unless it is the most amazing job that I know I will love or of course if we move. Which in case anyone was hoping, that's not in our future either. We are settling in in Olathe and we both love it there actually. For all you Johnson County/Kansas haters, I am still a Missourian at heart just as he is still an Iowan at heart but it's not too bad on the other side of the fence.

Wedding planning is going excellent. All the big things are done, leaving just the smaller details left which is awesome in my opinion. So that means I really have to get going on putting those invitations together.

Rob is doing awesome as well. He's super busy so if you don't see him ever, don't feel bad I don't see him either. Ha - although I'm only half kidding about that. He's busy with both Garmin and the Marines right now. Currently he's in Reno at a conference regarding his annual training which is in July, four weeks after our wedding to be exact. Good news is it's only two weeks and they are staying in the states this year too. Bad news, communication is just as bad unless we get Sprint, which for the record I had already told him we should move to the family plan there so maybe it'll work out? But anywho, he's currently in Reno set to get back tomorrow as long as the weather holds off just long enough. Otherwise I will not be a happy camper - I'm really looking forward to him coming home, especially sooner rather than later. Mostly because Friday-Sunday next weekend he's gone again with the Marines for their monthly drill weekend. So it won't be until the following weekend that we get to spend together and together, just us, we are going to spend it. We're talking about going away Friday night and Saturday on a day trip or something, just to get away. Other than being super busy, he's good and happy. I just don't get to see enough of him these days.

Stella is excellent and as cute as ever. She's a trouble-maker that's for certain. But she is as adorable as ever. She's my little darling cat, who has been my little protector while Rob's been gone and my little buttmunch every other time. I really like that silly cat afterall.

Everything else in the world of the Evans (although not technically an Evans yet, he pays the bills so we'll go with Evans and we're only like 146 days out now anyway) household is good. We're making it through just fine and doing good. Healthy, happy, alive.

"Purpose is what gives life a meaning." - Charles H. Perkhurst

It's been awhile. I seem to have a bit of an inconsistency in writing on here. Life has been very busy lately. I have left my FDI world that I have known for the last five years and have embarked on a new job at the WWI museum. I had such high hopes for this job. It was far away from FDI and all that I hated and I was sure that at least it was closer to what I wanted and things would be great. I really wanted this to all work out. But it all has fallen apart....

The job I hated that I wanted to get so far away from has followed me. I am doing much of the same thing that I was doing before only now I am selling ticket after ticket after ticket repeating myself over and over again. So now I'm going back to doing what I was doing before. I'm looking for another job...again. I'm getting really tired of looking for something I can't find. I just can't keep finding things that I don't want to do. I don't want to spend my life doing things I hate doing. Because what's the point of doing anything if you hate what you're doing.

Rob and I have worked it out and we would be just fine if I didn't work. But I want to help support us. But I'm just tired of doing nothing with my life. So my new goal is to find what is right for me. I'm going to explore everything I can. And if we have to scrape by for awhile then we have to but I'm going to figure this out and I'm going to do good. All I want is a purpose. I want to find my purpose. I know God will point me in the right direction as long as I trust him. So I'm seeking him with an open heart. And I'm going to explore. I'm going to have courage and strength and starting fighting back in my own life. I've wasted enough time and it's about time I fight back and figure it out for myself.
