With the New Year approaching I thought I would take this opportunity to let you in on my own little New Year's tradition. I have never been a big fan of resolutions. It always seems like resolutions only last a month - sometimes not more than even a week - before they are gone by the wayside. That being said, I will say that upon finding goodreads.com I have started my own book resolution but I find that is a resolution I will actually keep. You know me - I love reading.
That is just about the only resolution that I have any interest in making and keeping for that matter. Although it has crossed my mind to make a resolution regarding this blog. I've been struggling writing lately - well about anything other than food - so maybe a resolution will help me get refocused.
What I do do is this - Inside my jewelry box in my bedroom is an envelope that is full of the last twelve years or so of papers where I had written each year where I thought I would be in five years. But the trick is that I never look at the previous years before writing the currently one. I write them by what I currently want and am dreaming about or wishing for. I write based on what has happened in the last year so which direction I think my life is currently heading. For the most part they all follow the same idea, because I am who I am and want what I want, but they have definitely varied over the years. And it's a bit entertaining to read about where I think I'm heading or where I want to be heading in the next few years.
This was actually all first started when I was in junior high in one of my classes. We were supposed to write about where we see our lives when we are 25 years old. Now it's a little hard because I am actually 25, but now I can look back on that very first one and see if what I thought is where I actually am. So in the last few years I have changed it over to look 5 years in the future and where I think I'll be.
It's really my only tradition and it's something that I love doing. I enjoy thinking about where I think I'll be. It's even more entertaining to read what I thought about my life.
So do you have any New Years' traditions? Anything you do every year? Resolutions? A way that you celebrate?
