Wedding Week: A Year Later

Happy anniversary to us. It was a year ago that I married my best friend and the love of my life. Our love and everything we are is truly meant to be. Our story is such a chance meeting. It's weird to think about how close we came to never meeting. Reading his profile and sending that wink was the best thing I ever did.

And now we have been married for a year, and we have had one heck of a year.

June
Duh, we got married and went on our honeymoon.

July
We got back from our shortened honeymoon and spent the rest of our week off at home together. Then a week later, the hubs headed to California for two weeks for annual training. We spent our first month anniversary apart. Hadn't even been married a full month before we were separated. But he did not forget. I received some beautiful flowers.

August
We were finally able to really settle into our new married life. I turned another year older, and he baked me an apple pie for my birthday - surprising me by taking the day off. Then we went on a weekend trip to Silver Dollar City.

September
We had a second wedding reception in Iowa. Everything quieted down and we started to fall into a groove.

October
Halloween! Which of course means it is time to carve pumpkins. As it turns out I am just not good at it but it's a fun tradition. We were enjoying our settled down lives.

November
Time for the Marine Corps Birthday Ball again. Learned I can still fit into my bridesmaid dress from my sister's dress from 2005. We also celebrated Thanksgiving in Mt. Vernon. And spent a wonderful day-after-Thanksgiving at Silver Dollar City for Old Time Christmas

December
'Tis the season! I learned the importance of now leaving the Christmas tree on the back deck all year. But didn't let that damper my holiday spirits. We celebrated our first Christmas as a married couple. Which also so happened to be our six month anniversary. We made it half the year then we knew this would last a lifetime. : )

January
We ring in the new year with the windows open and by rearranging our apartment. Our house countdown is down to five months so that moves to the front of our minds. We also decide to make a big decision and start trying to have a baby.

February
Happy Valentine's Day! We enjoy a nice stay-cation which Rob planned and surprised me with on Valentine's Day. At the end of the month we found our we were pregnant with our first baby. And we couldn't be more excited!

March
We were keeping our huge secret but so excited. It was time to start thinking about what's next. Namely it was time to really start thinking about a house. By the end of March we let the cat out of the bag that we had a bun in the oven.

April
We went to look for houses and I started throwing up every day - the two things unrelated. We found our house and decided to go back for a second showing and that same day we made an offer on the house. Our offer was accepted and we were now on the way to buying our first house. Oh and our apartment flooded, can't forget about that!

May
I hit my second trimester, and we celebrated having a healthy and growing baby with no problems (the chance of miscarriage goes down to 1%). We had our home inspected and passed with flying colors. We started packing and taking inventory to get an early start

June
We found out there is a 51% chance we are having a girl. We found out there is an 100% chance we are having an ornery, stubborn baby. We finished packing and moving (today on our one year anniversary actually).

Let's just say we have had a very exciting first year of marriage, and I can't wait to see what's next for our growing family.
