For her other long-time friend, Seena, she planned for her to receive the red hot chili pepper, which symbolizes a hot romance. Seena has been in love with her best friend, Scott, for as long as she could remember, but their relationship continues to remain platonic despite any efforts.
But things go array at the shower and no one ends with the charm that Nic planned. Nic actually ends up with the baby carriage, much to her dismay. Mel ends up with the red hot chili pepper, and Seena ends up with the shovel. Although, things didn't go exactly as planned it shouldn't matter that much, it was only a silly shower game. But then things start coming true for the other women who were at the shower. And they begin to wonder if there is more to this "cake pull" then just a silly shower game

I enjoyed this book. It was strange that I was somewhat dreading this book. You can never be sure when you chose a book by an author you know nothing about and a book that you really don't know why you wanted to read in the first place (I often pick books then forget why I wanted to read them until I get into them). But with this book, I have enjoyed from the beginning. The three friends are interesting characters and I have enjoyed reading about their separate lives and also how their lives intertwine with each other.
And as a I side note I just want to say that I'm impressed I've gotten so much reading done. I started this book a few days after Addison was born and I finished it fairly quickly. As it turns out I get a lot of reading time when she is feeding because there really isn't a lot to do when she is feeding for often times an hour. I have been enjoying reading while nursing her and it has been a great time for me to catch up and maintain hope that I can still get my 52 books read this year. So far so good!
