Anybody else remember this? I remember sitting in our library on the stage watching Reading Rainbow. Oh, those were the days!
My love of books didn't start with these videos. My love of books came from my parents. I have always loved books. I love finding myself inside these different worlds. And often I hate leaving. I can't remember a time when I wasn't reading a book. When I wasn't in the middle of some adventure or world. That is something that I hope Addison will adapt. I hope she loves the many worlds and the many characters just as I have.
Last year I set a goal for myself to read 52 books in a year. Which means a book a week basically. I read some faster and some slower, but I achieved that goal. Barely. I finished my 52nd book on New Years Eve, but I made it. I conquered those 52 books. Despite having a baby in October. (My kid was a slow breastfeeder, so I had some time while she was taking her time eating.)
This year I have decided not to try and conquer 52 books this year. As Addie gets older and she naps less, I have less time to read. Plus I'm not really reading at night too consistently because by the time I crash at night, I literally crash. Babies are exhausting (but that's a post for another day).
This year - the year 2013 - I decided to take on a mere 15 books. Mere 15? At this point I think I might be lucky to even get that far with the amount of reading I have gotten done 14 days into the new year. But hey, have faith, my friends, have faith! (To follow what I'm reading and how many books I have read so far, check out the left-hand panel for those updates, follow my series 'How 'Bout Them Reads' for reviews and the books I read, plus check out my To Read section on the menu bar to see what I have read so far and what I'm still hoping to read.)
So what's your reading challenge for the new year? Any reading goals? Going to try and conquer that book that has always been your reading downfall or do you have a certain number of books you want to read this year?
