First of all, I had more pictures for you. I had lots of before pictures. I had lots of pictures of the money wasted with the before. But after I dropped my computer, I lost all those pictures. So you'll just have to do some imaging.
I have a very deep pantry. It's a good and bad thing. I love having all that space, but having it so deep there were things that got lost in the back. When I tell you had pictures of money wasted, I mean it was food that had expired. And it was a lot of food unfortunately that just got lost in the back of my deep pantry. I normally shop where I buy whatever I need for the recipes that week and that's it. Generally I don't buy extra food or snacks for that mater. But once upon a time I didn't do that so that's all that food that got pushed to the back and lost then expired. Oh well. No need to cry over expired and long-ago-thrown-away food.
After moving in when we started talking about things we wanted to do around the house, one of those things was installing drawers in the pantry. But it wasn't a high priority thing nor had Rob done any woodworking up to that point, so it wasn't likely to actually be completed. But as Rob got more interested in woodworking, the drawers moved up the list. We started talking about it more and before I knew it, we were buying what we needed to put together one drawer.
Rob wanted to make one drawer to test out. We wanted to make sure we liked it and it all worked the way we wanted. We didn't want to make all five then find out we hated something or needed to make a change. So Rob got to working on the design and what he needed and then started putting it together.
The first drawer definitely took the longest because it was about figuring it all out but after that they started coming together quicker. It was just a matter of waiting for the budget to allow us to buy all the supplies we needed to complete the budget. It took us about three months or so to buy everything but it was worth it.
It started with this very blurry picture of my middle shelf. Like I said I lost everything up to this point.
Rob did a lot of measuring, cutting, and putting together in order to get to this point. I cleared off the shelves. That counts for something right?
Rob also had some other helpers other than me being annoying and taking blurry pictures. Stella thought it was the perfect place to hang out...
And Addison thought it was the perfect place to corner to Stella...
Once we cleared them out, Rob's work went much faster.
The top two shelves done. We had the first shelf done for about a month before we did the rest of them. We wanted to give it a good trial run and work out any problems, but after we decided we liked them how they were we started on the next ones.
And after three months, the five drawers were done and amazing.
I don't know much to say about them. I lost half of my pictures, the other half seem to be blurry (it was horrible lighting), and I didn't actually do any of the building. But I love them and use them on a daily basis. Things are no longer lost in the back. The pantry isn't the prettiest. I'm still working on organizing and making it look and work best for us, but for now the pantry is at least easily accessible.
