Addison Sophia: 25 Months

Dear Addie:

Well, kid, we are a month into turning two and things are going great. Of course, you are two so we are also battling on some matters too. But this is a fun stage too. We are having a lot of fun these days with everything. You and me spend almost all day every day playing and exploring. You are growing too fast and I'm afraid I'm going to blink and these days, these moments are just going to be gone. So I'm trying to soak it all up with you while I can.

There are so many things about you in this stage that I don't want to forget. I love when I come and get you after nap time you are sitting there waiting for me, squeezing puppy and your penguin with a big smile on your face. I love when I lay down on the floor, you lay down next to me. I love that you hold my hand everywhere we go together because you don't want to lose me. I love that you say "Mickey!" in this really high pitch squeal every single time. I love that you love to dance to music and start grooving when you hear music. I love that you try to exercise by picking up weights and lifting them above your head or doing squats. I love that you love goats, letting them lick you and touch you while you feed them but you are terrified of finger paint. I love that you clean up the sidewalk when we go for walks by picking up things on the sidewalk - leaves, acorns, sticks - and moving them to the grass.

There are a million things that I love about the stage we are in. The biggest one is that you are now giving kisses. You kiss everything. You pick up random stuffed animals in stores, give it a kiss on the nose then set it down and move on. You kissed your toast the other day. You kissed your fork. And finally you started giving kisses to us. You will run back and forth between us, give up big hugs and a big, slobbery kiss. Melts my heart every time.

You are finally coming around to dolls. For the first 24 months of your life you were terrified of them. You would run away when you saw one. You wouldn't touch it. You were just completely freaked out by dolls. But now things are changing. I'm not sure why but you seem to be more okay with them now. I held one and rocked it in my arms to show you how to take care of her. You then fed the baby with a bottle, put her back in the cradle, rocked the cradle, and gave her a kiss. It was adorable. And now you like playing with them more. Not your favorite thing to play with but at least you don't run at the sight of a doll anymore. One of your favorite toys to play with is actually my old dollhouse from when I was a little girl. You love playing with it. And I love that you love it.

You are coming around to some girly toys, but you still love going outside to blow bubbles (which you can say bubbles now even) and make a mess with sidewalk chalk. You love to color in any form. If there is a pen, crayon, marker, pencil, chalk, pretty much any writing utensil within ten feet of you you will find it and try to use it. Luckily you have been keeping your coloring on paper and not on my walls. Although occasionally I catch you coloring in a book, but I the difference between a coloring book and a regular book is a bit confusing.

You are starting to talk more which I love. There is still a lot of babble that is completely not understandable. But there are more words and phases coming out. You can say Mickey and bubbles, but also car, cat, dada, and a few other words. You still refuse to say mama. In fact every time I ask you to, you tend to start crying. I'm just happy you are starting to talk. You are responding to questions we ask and starting to repeat what we say. Just the other day, your dad and I were joking around and I said that "dada had a tude." You repeated it. It was adorable.

You are doing so well. You are dancing. You are starting to talk. You are figuring things out. You are kissing everything. You have come so far. I love to watch you walk and talk and just be you. You are just growing away and being you. And I love who you are.

Love, Mama
