Sometimes Being a Mom is Boring...

There I said it.

It had to be said. Or maybe not...?

The thing is when you are a stay-at-home mom sometimes life is just boring. Your day is exactly the same full of the same activities, foods, punishments, temper tantrums, toys. There's a little change in the day depending on the mood of your kid. But if your kid is anything like Addison then your kid is a creature of habit. Addie likes her routine and she likes things a certain way.

Which makes things a little boring sometimes.

So in honor of all that boredom, I started a list of those things that just make me bored when we start those activities that feel like they are never going to end.

+Pushing your kid on the swing is probably one of the worst. Oh, Addie loves it. But standing there
pushing a swing for thirty minutes is torture some days. I miss the days of that motorized swing when she was an infant.

+Being handed something over and over and over and over and over and over again. I kid you not. Addie could give me books to stack up for hours. I admire her dedication and focus but boy is it boring for me. And it's even worse when I don't stack the books or whatever she's giving me correctly because than she gets mad. I hate getting in trouble with my kid....

+Waiting for her to finish eating. Heck, waiting for her to finish anything. She takes her jolly time, especially lately with her showing her independence and all, and sometimes it tends to wear on my patience. I have learned you just have to wait, you have to have patience, you have to learn to keep the boredom at bay when you have a 2 year old who is stubborn and independent.

+Going on a walk and letting her explore, aka clean up the driveway when we go for walks results in the longest walk ever. I love that she wants to check out of the world. I love she's not afraid to touch everything, but all you can do is wait for her to pick up things and examine things. It's cute the first hundred times and the second hundred times, it's just exhausting.

+Watching her favorite movie for the hundredth time. Enough said....

+Playing outside can be pretty boring sometimes. I love drawing on the sidewalk. I love blowing bubbles. I love playing with the sand and water table. But when she gets into her car and decides she wants to sit at the end of the driveway and watch the road, I have to stand between her and road so she doesn't roll herself into the road. She is perfectly happy just sitting there and watching. I, however, would love to sit down...

+Playing with Mr. Potato Head. I like Mr. Potato Head. He's pretty cool but Addie can't get the pieces out by herself. She sticks the pieces in then needs help pulling them out again. She can't get the hat on, so that's me again. The ears need to come out. The eyes are stuck again. I'm looking forward to the day that she figures out how to get the pieces out by herself.

The list probably could just go on.

But the thing is, being a mom is pretty awesome. All those boring moments don't mean anything when you compare it to all the awesome moments. Having a kid is the most rewarding thing in the world. She is adorable and hilarious and the best part of every day (although the hubs is a very very close second).

So yes being a mom is boring sometimes, but it's all worth it. This face is worth all the boredom in the world.
