Our Old Kitchen Built Around Our New Dishwasher

Rob suggested I start a new series called Every Day Mishaps or something to that effect considering that every project around this house we take on seems to end in some crazy hilarious story. Don't believe me? Check out The Vinyl that Almost Wasn't, Give Me A Hook to Hang a Towel On, and The Kitchen Built Around the Dishwasher. There have also been plenty of small projects that haven't exactly gone smoothly. Changing out all the outlets and light switches around the house from off-white to white has been on-going (but finally done now) and has caused some issues. Painting hasn't always gone smoothly. And the list goes on.

So I was a little nervous when we finally got the point where we were ready to buy the dishwasher
and have it installed. Nothing is really that easy.

But we went discussed what we wanted and asked all our questions, including if they would take care of the fact that our whole dishwasher was hard-wired in (hence the cord going under the drywall). The guy was great and answered our questions. Helped us get the most discounts to make the whole thing as cheap as possible. It was a easy and painless process.

We bought it on Tuesday evening and had it installed by Saturday morning at 7:30. They were in and out quickly, taking the old one with them. It was amazing to have a dishwasher that I could put the dirty dish I had left in the sink the night before into it. Of course that was Valentine's Day so I wasn't cooking dinner so we didn't have enough to really run a load. But of course we did anyway with the six dishes we did use.

We've had it almost a week and boy was it amazing to just put the dishes into the dishwasher and be done. I still hand wash my pots and pans and knives but that's nothing now.

The same day Rob put the kitchen back together. The floor is in, the baseboard back up, the kitchen put back as it was before. We still have a slight fix to do some trim that turned out to be some kind of foam so we have to get something new, but that's easy enough....maybe I shouldn't say that. Nothing is really easy enough....

xo, B
