You are about the size of a lime, just over 2 inches long and weighing half an ounce. The biggest development of the week is reflexes. If I pike you then you will probably move in there, even though I still won't be able to feel it. Your fingers will open and close, your toes will curl, your eye muscles will clench and your mouth can make sucking movements. You are growing so fast. In fact your intestines protruded into the umbilical cord but will now start moving into your abdominal cavity. Your organs and tissues will grow and develop rapidly as you are about to enter the growth and the maturation stage. However, most of your critical systems are fully formed now. All your facial features are moving to where they are supposed to be - your eyes from the side of your head and your ears to where they should be.
This week has been a very rocky week. There have been days where I didn't have any morning sickness or queasiness. I've been hungrier and able to eat without worry of throwing up. Then I have those days when I have felt like all I have done is throw up. Actually I did have a day when a little stomach bug hit me and I did throw up about eight times that day. But morning sickness wise, other than that one day, it has been the best week so far. I have still be exhausted, no matter how sick I have been. I've been getting up every night in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom which isn't helping the sleep. I'm feeling pretty excited about the fact that we are so close to the second trimester. It has already gone by so fast, but I am more than okay with that. I do feel like I already have a small bump growing. It's probably unnoticed by everyone else but I can tell a difference. My bras don't fit the same for one and my pants are definitely tighter. There is just a small little bump growing there, although there are some days that I'm sure it is more bloat than anything else. But it's been fun already to see my body change. You just keep growing in there!
So it's still going to be a couple weeks before we find out if we are having a boy or a girl but it's always fun to make guesses to what we will be having. Although we are hoping for a dinosaur, we both have our separate guesses. Rob is convinced we will have all girls. I thinking boy again. Of course I was wrong last time around but you never know. So I thought it would be fun to look into old wivestales to see what we will be having.
Chinese gender chart = BOY (In order to figure this out, you take the age of the mom and the month of conception to get the results.)
Heartbeat = GIRL (If the heart rate is more than 140 then it's a girl, if less than a boy. The first time was 160 bpm.)
Cravings = GIRL (The truth is that I haven't craved either too much but I have eaten more sweet than sour. However, fruits are considered sweets and I have eaten a crazy amount of fruits. If you crave sweets then it's a girl. If you crave sour things then it's a boy.
Mayans = BOY (The Mayans add the age of the mother and the year of conception. If the number is even the it's a girl; if it's odd then it's a boy.)
Necklace over palm of hand = BOY (If the necklace swings back and forth then it's a boy; if it swings in a circle then girl.)
Morning sickness = GIRL (Apparently really bad morning sickness means you are having a girl. If that's the case then it's definitely a girl. At first I thought this pregnancy's morning sickness was way better than the first, but I was wrong a hundred times over!)
Baby's father's weight = BOY (If the man is gaining any weight, it has nothing to do with the gender of our baby. However as far as I know he hasn't which means boy.)
Clumsy = BOY (Graceful means girl. It's a wonder I already have a girl if that's the case since I am pretty clumsy all the time, pregnant or not.)
What side I sleep on = BOY (I like sleeping on my left side which apparently means boy. However, I do sleep on my right, but I do tend to get a little more comfortable on my left side.)
Hands constantly dry = BOY (Apparently this is a sign...)
Cold feet = BOY (Apparently if you have really cold feet then you are having a boy and if they stay the same then it's a girl. My feet are always cold.)
Headaches = BOY (If you have an increase in headaches then it's a boy. I have a headache almost every day. Although it could be argued that a toddler has something to do with that...)
If you go by old wivestales then we are having a boy, which means we are having a girl. I think it was the same way with Addison as well. Unfortunately we still have to wait awhile before we will find out. Somewhere between 18-20 weeks we will be able to find out if we are having a boy or a girl and I can't wait!
