A Pregnancy Story: 13 Weeks

At almost 3 inches long and nearly an ounce in weight, you are about the size of a pea pod or a
shrimp. With all the growing you are doing, your body is finally catching up with your head, which is about a third of your body size. Even though you are still so tiny, you have fingerprints on those little fingertips. Your veins and organs are visible through your see-through skin now. Also, if you are a girl then you have more than 2 million eggs in your ovaries now. It's hard to believe how much you have changed over this short amount of time. I's hard to believe that this is the last week of my first trimester.

Finally the last week of the first trimester! It's hard to believe that it's finally here! Despite that excitement about being at the end of the first trimester, it actually hasn't been the best week. Let me just say that I really really really hate morning sickness. I'm so tired of throwing up. Honestly I thought it was getting better but then it picked up to the point that I was getting sick multiple times a day. I started struggling to find anything to eat because everything made me sick. After every meal I was throwing up and unable to keep anything done. So finally I made the call to my doctor at the end of the week to get some medicine. I hope the morning sickness gets better but right now it isn't so in order to function I need something to just make it through the day. Add to that the fact that I'm not sleeping great and I'm really just not doing great. I'm not sleeping through the night and it has even gotten so bad that I'm getting up two times a night now. And when I am sleeping, it's not restful because I just can't get comfortable. I'm exhausted and I'm throwing up all day long, so this week has been a tough one.

In so many ways this pregnancy has been harder on me than my pregnancy with Addison. Some of that is due to having a toddler this time around who wants to go-go-go. Some of that is due to the constant morning sickness hitting me multiple times a day. Some of that is due to what my body went through before even getting pregnant this time with the miscarriages and all the fertility drugs. But as the first trimester wraps up I only hope that my energy will come back. I hope that I will spend less time throwing up. I hope that I will stop having headaches. It definitely doesn't make me sad to see summer coming to a close and the heat going with it. The heat has done me no favors either. The first trimester has definitely been hard on me but I still wouldn't trade a moment of it. I know how blessed I am at every moment that I was able to get pregnant again and in six months we will have another beautiful baby. I have no sadness in seeing the first trimester go, but I am thankful for every day.
