Addison Sophia: 35 Months

Dear Addie::

There is part of me that is feeling a little sad because you are just a month away from turning three. I still don't understand when that happened. The last three years have blown by. You have changed so much. You have kept pushing forward. You have no idea how proud of you I truly am. I know you will never remember those days of your regression. You will never remember how scared I was. You will never remember how frustrated you were. You will have memories of where you are now; a normal, happy little girl.

You truly blow me away by how much you have progressed. You have surpassed everyone's expectations. Normally kids don't progress as quickly as you have. I love how much more you are talking now. You are still not where most kids your age are supposed to be, but you are catching up with amazing speed. You have become so clear and you can tell me what you want or how you are feeling. You can express yourself now. What I'm most impressed by is that you know almost the entire alphabet by sight now. There are a few letters that hold you up but you are at least repeating those letters after I tell you. Counting isn't coming as quickly as the alphabet is but it'll come. You know all your colors. You know your animals and sounds. You surprise me daily what else you know and what else you can say.

This last month has been a big one in your little life because you started preschool. Technically it is all temporary since you are being evaluated for 23 days to see if you qualify for the services. I can't see how you will since you are not as far behind as everyone thought, but we will see. You seem to be loving it through. You are learning a lot, doing art projects, playing outside. However you do come really tired and a little cranky. It is four days a week three hours a day which I think is a little much for you and it's just wearing you out. Plus I really miss you during the day. I miss having my shopping buddy. I miss going to play groups. I just miss having you around. I will admit that I hate getting up early and have learned that you are not a morning person. You are a little difficult to get out of bed most days. I guess that's just a picture of what's to come in the teenage years.

When you are home, you love playing on the iPad which has been great for you learning your letters and numbers. You love hopping on your foam alphabet mat. Trains are still pretty popular. Your pretend play has come so far as well. It's been great to get you outside and running around now that it's cooling down outside. You are always loving your train set which you still play with the most. You also love the lego train in the playroom; you have even learned how to turn it off and on by yourself. Lately you have been playing with the big foam letters. You hop from letter to letter reciting your the letter. It's a great way to learn your letters and practicing hopping.

You are definitely stubborn and lately have had some listening problems. But you are still a sweet girl. You are a happy girl. You are growing so much and so fast. I love hearing you talking and hearing you laugh. You are just an amazing little girl. I love you so much.

Love, Mama
