It doesn't matter. What matters is that Stella has celebrated yet another birthday. Although her way of celebrating is eating and sleeping all day, which actually isn't a bad way to spend a birthday.
Stella Cat is an important member of this family. Addison went from not knowing she existed to talking about her all the way home from preschool. Stella was the first living thing I had to take care of. We got Stella in order to keep me company while Rob was working and gone with the Marines. She started out so small and completely scared of us. She refused to come out from hiding for the longest time then finally she started coming out when I was home. A few months later she started coming out when Rob was home but only after dark. Then finally she got brave and we started seeing her more. However, no one knew we had a cat unless they saw her food or liter box because she would just disappear.
Of course, most people still don't know we have a cat because she still hides when anyone else is around. After Addison was born they basically ignored each other. Addison was a baby so of course that made sense. Stella was in denial that we brought home this noisy, smelly thing. Over time they got used to each other. Stella has always been amazing with Addison and so patient. When she is tired of Addie, she disappears. Never once as she hissed at Addie (although never once in her life have I ever heard Addison hiss), never has she nipped or scratched her (she doesn't have front claws).
We are happy to have Stella as part of his family. She is an amazing cat. She's quirky and weird and the perfect fit to this family.
xo, B
