Addison Sophia: 3 Years

Dear Addie:

You are three years old! I just can't believe it. I knew it was coming, but I think there was part of me that was in denial. It really does seem like yesterday that you were a little baby. But you aren't anymore. The world is just as exciting to you now as it was then and I love that. But you have changed so much. You come running at me to give me a hug and tell me that you love me, and I can't believe how much you have grown and changed.

This last month was a bit of a tough one since you spent the last month in four days a week and 3 hours a day preschool. I missed you while you were gone. I missed going on adventures with you even though you slow everything down quite a bit. However, it's good to have you back home again mostly full-time. It's nice to have my shopping buddy back. It's nice to go on adventures with you again.

You are talking even more. Every day you become more clear in the words that you say. You make me laugh on a daily basis because you are funny. It's amazing to hear your voice and hear you talking. I love that you have opinions and feelings and wants that you are able to express now. We still have a long journey ahead of us to get you completely caught up with other kids your age, but I am so proud of you and happy with how far you have already come.

Lately you have been loving playing computer games with your daddy. In fact you love anything that involves your daddy. You two have been buddies lately. Of course he still drives you crazy sometimes and you get pretty mad at him, but there is definitely more laughter than not when the two of you are playing.

Trains are your favorite thing right now. That's all you ever want to play with. You ask all the time if I'll play trains with you. We spend a lot of time playing trains. Unfortunately I'm not as good at putting cool tracks together, but you seem okay with anything I can come up with.

We definitely have our bad days. We had a lot of bad days while you were still in preschool "full-time" because you would come home so exhausted and cranky. We did have bad days without preschool and those were just because you have been going through a stubborn streak lately. You are just asserting your independence more.

Lately you have been sleeping great. You are a lot like me; you hate getting up in the morning. During nap times, you have been spending about an hour playing quietly in your room then you sleep for another hour-an-half to two hours. At night you go to sleep pretty quickly because you are so worn out from your day. I wish your eating has been as awesome as your sleeping. We definitely have been butting heads about what you should be eating lately. Luckily when you do ask me for a snack, you are asking for fruits. I can't complain too much about that.

Although I won't be writing you monthly letters, you still have so many changes ahead. I look forward to everything ahead. You are such an amazing girl and I can't wait to see how many more awesome things are to come. I just can't believe that you are actually three years old. You have changed so much and I am just so proud to be your mom. I love you so much.

Happy birthday beautiful girl.

Love, Mama
