Every Day Conversations [Kid Edition]: Part I

I have a kid with a speech delay. She's a three year old who isn't quite where other kids of the same age typically are. But we are proud of how far she has come. We are proud of the talking she does do. And because I'm proud of her, kids are funny and I want to remember I'm expanding the already semi-popular Every Day Conversation series to a kid edition that's all about the conversation we have with our favorite three-year-old.

"Daddy, it's me Addie!" (Yelled from her bedroom while she was supposed to be napping)

"House? Where are you?" (Anytime we are on our way back home)

"Della! Della! Ready? Song?" (Chasing Stella cat trying to get her sing the alphabet song.) "Della! Ready? Song!"
"Addie I don't think Stella is going to sing the song." (me)
Pause.
"Daddy! Where are you?" (going to the window and calling out (he was at work))

"Whew! That was close!" (Complete with wiping her forehead)

"Mama. It's me Addie."
"Addie. It's me Mama."
"No. Addie."
"I'm Addie?" (me)
Pause then a giggle. "Yup!"

Rob and Addie making all kinds of noise.
"What are you two doing?" (me)
"We are crashing cars?" (Rob)
"I this your story?" (me to Addie)
Pause
"Crash!" (Addie)

Playing with her dollhouse. I was the dad and she was the little girl.
"Let's go to the kitchen to find some food." (me as the dad)
"Okay!" (Addie)
We walk the dolls to the kitchen.
"There's no food!" (me as the dad)
"Oh no!" Pause "Mama!" She quickly grabs the dad from me and puts him in bed then grabs the mom and hands me to me. "Cook!"

Comes out of the closet wearing my shoes.
"Look they fit!'

With a pouty face and tears in her eyes.
"I have daddy go please." (she wanted him to go away)

Garage door goes up.
"Daddy's home!" Then whining
"What's wrong? Did you do anything that would get you in trouble?"
"Daddy's plate."
"You did something to Daddy's plate?"
"Uh huh!"

"Addie, you want to get dressed?" (me)
"No!"
"You want to change that answer?"
"Fine!"

"Addie, can I have a hug? Daddy has to go back to work." (Rob)
"Fine." (Addie - then runs away)
"I don't think you know what fine means."
"Fine!"
