When Addison was itty bitty, I gave her a tiny little dog just her size to snuggle with. As she grew, we gave it to her more as a comfort item. Over time she indeed grew attached to it. We called him Puppy thinking as she got older she would give him another name, but he always stayed Puppy. He got well loved. His nose got chewed on so much that it has been repaired several times and now looks ridiculous but Addie doesn't care. He has been thrown up on. He has been dropped and lost around the house - she likes to put him in tiny, weird places prompting us to have to search frantically around the house. He gets lots of hugs and kisses, including good night kisses from us. He goes to bed with her every night. He just can't be replaced.
It's had quite a life. Whenever I someone makes a comment about him - Addie likes to show him off - I always say that he's well loved.
Puppy has definitely seen better days. He's looking a little sad these days. But he is still well-loved. He still goes everywhere with us. He is still the one that Addison wants when she's not feeling good, tired, or upset. There is seriously no replacing him. We actually couldn't if we wanted to since we have no idea where he came up initially.
Puppy has had a good life though. Hopefully he lasts a little longer so he can continue to do his job being my daughter's first friend.
Have a great weekend!
Happy Friday!
