Our Baby Essentials

Recently I pulled out all the baby stuff and had a walk down memory lane [check it out here]. It got me thinking about all those things that became essential to us when Addison was a baby. So it's all about those things that we couldn't live without when she was a baby and my list of kid essentials.

ONE // Baby Swing -- The truth is that any kind of swing is pretty essential to us. We never realized how awesome our baby swing would be. Addison loved it. It almost instantly put her to sleep every time we put her in it. As she got older, she loved the swing outside and would spend hours in it if we let her. And now the swing is used as a fort which isn't all forts essential to three-years-olds?

TWO // Car Seat Protector -- This has protected our seat so many times. We have had it since Addison was in her infant seat. Back then we thought we would just need it so the infant seat didn't tear into the actual car seat. But now it has saved the car seat from those times when Addison has gotten sick. I don't know what we would do without it. No doubt we will be getting another one for Connor's seat.

THREE // Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes Musical Toy -- This was our hidden secret. Anytime Addison was upset, we would turn this on and she would immediately quiet down. She loved it. Best toy ever!

FOUR // Blanket for swaddling -- To be honest I'm horrible at swaddling but I married the world's best swaddler. Swaddling was very comforting for Addison so we did it for a long time - until she started rolling. But you have to have the right kind of blanket that is thin enough and big enough that it works. Any old blanket won't work to get a good swaddle.

FIVE // White Noise -- For a long time Addison wouldn't sleep without the white noise on. We didn't buy anything fancy but just used a radio and found static and it was perfect. It was pretty awful when it was in our room and we hated it but it worked like a charm for Addison every time. That radio went everywhere with us.

Of course there are other things that we used a lot when Addison was a baby. I loved my breast pump. We loved our baby bathtub. Our activity jumper was awesome. There are a dozen other things that we loved but we definitely got our use out of those five things I listed above.
