Emma Lynn: 8 Months

Dear Emma:

We are getting far too close to one year now. In some ways it's hard to believe you are only 8 months because it seems like you have been part of this family for much longer, and it other ways I can't believe you are already 8 months. You have just grown so fast.

You continue to be my easiest baby. I don't know if it's because you are the third baby or because it's just you, but you just completely go with the flow. You pretty much only cry when you are hungry or if I walk too far away from you. You are as easy going as it gets. It makes life pretty easy when you can sleep anywhere and don't really have many complaints.

Lately we have really been getting into the purees. We are still figuring out the routine exactly especially in the morning but we are getting there slowly. You have about four to five bottles a day. I try to make sure you get oatmeal in the morning but that doesn't always happen. At lunch you get a protein of some kind like chicken and rice plus a fruit. Then at dinner you get another protein like apple chicken plus a vegetable. I always feel so clueless about feeding schedules but we'll get it figure out. As long as your tummy has food in it you are fine as I figure it out.

You have officially dropped your evening nap so you are at two naps a day. You usually take a shorter morning nap unless you are just that tired. Then you take a longer afternoon nap and usually that's enough for you. You have also been sleeping really well at night. You go to bed by 8, sometimes a little earlier and get up about 7, give or take. Sometimes you have the odd morning where you get up a lot earlier and rarely do you sleep much later but I can't complain too much about you getting up at 7.

You mega big this last month was that you said mama! You actually said it when your dad was changing you and you clearly didn't want him. You have had a few of those moments actually. There was an evening where you woke up crying so we went in for you. Your dad picked you up and we tried everything to calm you down. Finally your dad added you to me and you immediately calmed down. I sang to you again and I put you down and you went back to sleep. We laugh because during the day if I walk too far away you often start crying so you call it your proximity alarm.

You are about an awesome as they come. You are happy almost always. You are growing like a weed. You go with the flow. It's just easy being your mom. We are so lucky to you have. I love you, M&M.
