From Bionic Blue to Sunny Yellow

Although I have not talked about my plans for Addison's room other than a brief mention of ideas for her room back during Week 18, I do indeed have a plan for her room. In fact I have had a plan for quiet some time.

But before these plans could be realized the room had to be transformed from what we call Bionic Blue to my color of choice. Which proved to be easier said than done.

Keep in mind as you look through the following pictures that they don't truly show how truly awful the blue was. In fact, it looks like a couple different shades of blue in these pictures. Just trust me when I say it was bad.

My mom being the wonderful third-time grandparent-to-be offered her (and my dad's) services painting the room as a gift to us. Which was amazing because I'm not much of a painter and the paint fumes are a little much for me and Little Bit. And Rob, well between everything he has going on he doesn't really have the time to paint. Just to be clear, he would have found time to paint his daughter's room but trust me when I say my parents painting the room was really a gift for all three of us.

We did do the prep work of taking off the outlet covers, blinds and filling in the holes all over the walls from nails (and even some screws) we pulled out. And just a quick comment about the outlets - after the last people painted the walls, they pretty much put the outlet covers on right away because they were stuck to the walls. Yup, that was a treat!

Then the painting could begin. What we failed to realize was this blue would be nearly impossible to cover. And we bought the expensive, nice kind with premier mixed in. Between the blue and the very dray walls, the project took more time and a gallon more of paint than anyone was expecting.

As you can see, we are going yellow. Sun Shower to be exact (it is a Behr paint for anyone interested). And even though it took more time, effort and money than we were expecting, I love love LOVE the end result!

The yellow is bright and playful. And exactly the color inside the theme that has inspired Miss Addie's room - which I'm not telling yet. : ) But we have the start. We can now really start putting her room together. Which is exactly why the changing table has already made its appearance in the room. I love the dark against the bright yellow. I am so excited to get the rest of the room together, and see how the picture in my head measures up against reality.

I will give you this one tidbit: If you will be an aunt, uncle, cousin, or grandparents to this little girl then brush those pearly whites and get ready to smile at a Polaroid - yes, you hear right, Polaroid - camera. You will be an important part of her life so why not in her room too?
