The One with the Rocking Chair

I can happily report that we now will be able to rock Addison. Or should I say, we will be able to glide Addison. That's confusing - does the verb change depending on if it is a glider or a rocker? A puzzle to sort out another day I suppose. Whatever we will be doing - gliding or rocking - we are now able to do it, but much like most things in our lives, it is never a simple story.

The hubs and I have decided that that buying fates are against us when it comes to buying big items, such as fridges and now rocking chairs. When we registering awhile ago, it took us quite a bit of time to agree on a rocking chair. The rest of the registering went fairly quickly, but when we started trying to figure out which chair we liked best, we had trouble agreeing. But finally after much too long, we made our choice and was actually quite happy with our decision.

Fast forward to my Iowa baby shower....Rob's parents decided to buy us the rocking chair we wanted, but his mom said that they would just have to give us the money so we could buy it down here because she had trouble ordering it up there. She tried to order it but they said they couldn't ship it but nor could she pick it up. So we thought surely they would have it in the store we originally found it and registered for it at. How wrong we were! Turns out, the chair we picked. The one we spent at least twenty minutes deciding on was discontinued.

Figures, right? So now we were faced with having to agree on a different chair. Luckily, we agreed quickly. Unfortunately, there was no chair within the same price range as our original chair, so now we were getting a chair twice as much. But we loved the chair, it came with the ottoman and a little table, so we decided it worth paying twice as much and got the rocking chair set.

As we ordered it, we did ask if there was any chance this item was going to be discontinued before we actually received it. They said since there was 40-some in the warehouse, it was unlikely and chances were good we would actually be getting this chair. So now we wait - 7 to 14 days...

Fast forward again to five days later...I received a call from Babies R Us. No worries, it was a happy call telling me that our rocking chair had arrived (but they would only hold it for seven days so basically we better come up there as soon as possible to get it). Which we went to get the chair the very next day, but of course we chose a rainy day to pick up the chair. And the lady that helped us at Guest Services was far too over-dramatic regarding if the chair would fit through the back door and how they would have to bring it around front.

But alas, we finally received our chair. We had no clue how small their back door was but it probably would have fit just fine considering it fit through our doorways just fine - maybe they have really really small doors. But at least we had it now, but the story is not over yet - the story is never over, is it? We now had to put the chair together.....
