I Resolve

Last year about this time I wrote a post titled 'I Resolve to Not.' It was all about how I am not a fan of resolutions. It seems that everyone makes resolutions but not very often are the resolutions actually kept. So here's the thing, I'm not going against what I said last year. But I am making some food resolutions - things I want to accomplish this year in cooking (or at least just some of the things I want to accomplish this year).

#1: Making homemade pizza sauce
I actually have a recipe that I'm looking forward to trying. But if that one is no good then I will continue to search until I find one I like - even if it takes all year. I already found a pizza crust recipe that is delicious, so now all I need is the sauce and we have a delicious completely homemade pizza in the making!

**Of course I have already conquered this one. I found a recipe for a pretty good one. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting in a pizza sauce but I really liked it. So technically this is crossed off my food resolutions list, but that doesn't mean I can't find another one.

#2: Making homemade noodles
I may not be able to do this one just because I don't have a pasta machine thing, but you never know. I hope to find a recipe where I don't need one and I can make them at least once. Just to say I did it. Then I might just go back to store bought, so much easier.

#3: Make homemade pasta sauce
How awesome would it be to have a completely homemade spaghetti dinner. Homemade noodles. Homemade pasta sauce. Homemade meatballs. Doesn't that sound delicious?!

#4: Make something out of 'Mastering the Art of French Cooking'
I have it and have had a fear of it. So this year I want to just do one recipe.

#5: Try a new recipe at least once a week
This one is actually easier than I think because I often get bored and want to try new things. So this is probably not a hard goal to complete.

#6: Add at least 20 recipes to our favorites and apart of our regular meals.
Again with all the new recipes, I'm sure it can't be too hard to find 20 more meals (at least) that we can add to our favorites list.

#7: Learn a new technique once a month, at least.
I'm all about learning new things. I'm all about the new recipes so why not some new techniques to go with my new recipes!

#8: Conquer my fear of the broiler -- Also get a casserole dish that can go into the broiler
You may laugh, but I'm seriously a bit afraid of the broiler. Nothing I have made that uses the broiler has gone well. So I tend to shy away from any recipes that uses it, so this year I'm getting over that fear. I'm conquering that broiler one way or another! (Hopefully I won't burn the house down or myself in the process)

#9: Learn how to time out meals
Again you may laugh, but it's hard when you are trying to make different things at different times different ways. I need a lot of practice.

#10: Make a vegetable with every meal unless one-pot meal
This kind of goes with number 9 because I have never been good at timing out meals I have avoided making a lot of anything else with the meal. So it's time to start eating our veggies, a really good habit to get into so Addie gets into that habit.

#11: Make a cheesecake from scratch
Why not?

#12: Learn how to make at least 5 homemade breads
Again why not? Not necessary but I love baking so why not try my hand at some bread making.
