Cage in the Baby!

Addison is on the move (read here). We have lots of stairs. And the two don't go hand-in-hand. Unless you're in to the whole baby falling down the stairs head first thing. Which we are not so much. We like her face the way it is, and we are trying really hard to not inflict any major brain damage before she's even one, so there's that. All those things led to us needing some baby gates, which then led us to realize we bought the worst possible house for baby gates. Basically meaning we weren't going to be able to buy baby gates and be done with it. We were going to have to do a lot more than that to keep our baby's head, face and body safe from gravity that has pulled both Rob and I down different flights of stairs. She's my daughter so she's going to learn all about gravity spikes soon enough, we didn't need to help it along.

So upon realizing that we couldn't just buy standard baby gates, we decided the only solution was for us to build them. And when I say us, I really mean for Rob to build. Although I did help - I painted...so you probably shouldn't look too closely because we all know about my painting abilities (for example, read here). But really my job wasn't so hard. It was Rob who deserves all the credit for how amazing these gates look. However, the idea was completely ours. I had searched the internet looking for ideas for do-it-yourself gates, which is when I saw that it didn't have to be difficult. We could handle some wood and PVC pipe.

And it was actually pretty easy. He got the dimensions of the area that he had to work out, measured out the wood and PVC pipe, got to cutting, and assembled it. After he put it together I painted it then he put it up and that was that. It took some time, but it was easy. They work great and look great to boot. And the biggest bonus, they keep Addison safe from those pesky stairs.

So what do you think? Awesome right? Rob did awesome. I told you he is a rock star!
