Preptober 2019

Nanowrimo is just around the corner which means it's time to start prepping for it. It's preptober! I'm actually pretty excited about Nanowrimo. I have done it for the last two years and have realized how much I have missed writing and just love taking the time each day to do it. But it is a lot of work and getting to 50,000 words is no easy task. So I want to make sure I am as prepared as possible. Each year I have put together a notebook that will help me get through Nano and all the writing I need to do. And I must say that each year I have gotten better at figuring out what I need in a notebook.

This year was clearly no different and I wanted to show you what I have in my notebook so if you are interested in doing nano you can do it now and get yourself ready for November.

This year I got my notebook from Planner Press and I am in love with it. I can be pretty picky about the paper texture but I really like writing in this notebook and the cover is pretty dang cute!

I started with an index even though I don't often use an index. I guess I figure this might be the one time I do.I don't know. I started with one and if I use it great, if I don't whatever.

Every year I have had a checklist in the front. And ever year it pretty much says the same thing. There might be other people out there with other things on their list but this is a pretty basic and that's about all I need.

I have to have my calendars. I think it helps to see what's coming. October is a very busy month which I guess that means it's a good thing that November is the month where I actually do the writing. But it's good to see how much time I have to work on things.

Who doesn't love a good tracker? I like to see how much I have done in a day and how much I still have to go. It's just fun to fill out each day.

I then add a story section. None of this is filled out because I didn't want to have to blank everything out, but I'm now slowly getting things filled in.

To be perfectly honest I have no clue why I add a title ideas section. I never really use it but maybe one of these times I will.

The plot idea section is where I'm writing the brief synopsis of my story. And the character names page seems pretty clear too.

For some reason I rarely fill out the setting section although I might actually do it this year. I have started working on a playlist for writing. Mostly I am just using Spotify playlists (which by the way is the only time I use Spotify) but I like to jot down a few songs that I really like and will go back to over and over.

I don't want to say the last section because this isn't but it's the last one I have titled out. This is where I will be writing out character profiles so I have an insight into each character. The last section is the outline. I used this last year and I really liked having it. I'm not really much of an outline person but it's nice having a direction when you are trying to get to a word count each day.

So there you have it. My Nanowrimo notebook. Despite how busy I am, I still plan on doing Nano this year and I am truly excited about it.
