Emma Lynn: 14 Months

Dear Emma:

There has definitely been a mix of good and bad. You are always my beautiful baby girl, but we have had some rough days recently. I just can't believe you are already another month older. You are just changing so fast.

You are not overly chatty. You talk when you find good reason to but there isn't a lot of words that come out. You mostly just let your big sister and brother do the talking. I'm not worried you will start talking in due time and just take off all the sudden for sure. You do sometimes yell at them though. If they are screaming you like to take part, but also if they are doing something you don't like, you don't know how to deal with it so you just turn to them and yell at them. It normally takes them by surprise that you are suddenly screaming at them.

You are so active. You are all over the place and constantly wearing me out. I still end up blocking you into the living room most of the time because you get into everything you aren't supposed or climb the stairs otherwise. You are basically running now and all over the place. You are definitely curious about everything, but you are also starting to understand more which means when I tell you no you back off some of the time now. Slowly you are learning and listening better.

This last month we had a big snowfall and although we have walked through snow quite a bit to school, you hadn't had the chance to really interact with snow. We took you outside and you had your first experience walking and playing in snow. Really you ended up just crawling through snow which I imagined was pretty cold but you didn't seem to mind. You were so curious and interested. And even after I took you back inside and left your dad and siblings outside to play you just stood by the window watching. They even threw snowballs at the window you stood out and you found that hilarious.

Unfortunately this month was also marred by some sickness. First you caught a cold from your brother and preschool which took you down for awhile. You were waking up a lot doing the night congested and coughing. But we got through it even if you didn't feel good. Through it, you still had your spirits up. But just as you were finally feeling better and started sleeping through the night again, you got hit again with something. Whatever seems to have hit you in the last few days has hit you hard. You have been up every two hours to an hour. You are barely eating. You are just miserable. We seem to finally be on the uphill on this sickness but we have to get your checked out just in case. On top of it or it could be causing it all, is that you have your molars coming in. It's just been a rough couple days for you and I miss my beautiful, happy girl. You just don't feel good at all.

But you are still amazing and beautiful. I look forward to you feeling better and going back to being yourself. I miss your beautiful self. But really you are always beautiful. You are wonderful. You are unique and amazing. I just love you so much.

Love, Mama
