Emma Lynn: 19 Months

Dear Emma:

This last month has flown by and now we are one more closer to two! How did that even happen? You are growing too fast. And changing so fast. But what doesn't change is how amazing you are and how you keep us laughing and smiling. 

I always thought your brother was going to be my trouble maker but you seem to have him beat. Never mind all the things you get into, but just the amount of things you climb on is enough to wear anyone else. And that anyone is me who is constantly pulling you off of tall places. Lately you have taken to climbing up on the dining room chairs then onto the table in order to reach all the Legos that your brother and sister play with everyday. You also just figured out how to climb up on our counter-height chairs recently. I'm worried that it won't be long before you are climbing out of your crib and then I'm in big trouble. 

You have been pretty antsy and don't focus on anything for very long. But one thing you do spend a lot of time doing is looking through books. You just can't seem to get enough of them. You definitely have your favorites from Thelma the Unicorn to Grumpy Monkey to There's a Monster in Your Book. You like fast paced books that have big colorful pictures. And you are always wanting one more at nap time and bed time. You do always have books in your crib and I often find you reading while you wait for me to get you. 

Slowly but surely you are starting to talk more. It is a slow process and some days it feels like you don't talk at all, but you are trying. There is still a good deal of communication done through sign language, although at this point you don't seem too willing to learn new signs but just continue to use the old ones. The clearest word you have is actually 'Addie' but you don't just say it, you yell it. Every single time. It's really quite funny. But you are repeating more and trying to communicate more with us, so that's important. 

We have entered the period of temper tantrums and boy have you mastered those! We have taken the same stance we took with the other two, we just ignore you. But you definitely throw quite the fits, throwing yourself on the floor and screaming. And let's be honest there are times that you have every reason to be angry since your brother and sister don't often let you play with them. But we are working on it. 

Temper tantrums aside you are an amazing little girl. I love watching you grow and change. You are becoming such an amazing person and I can't wait to see what else that personality has in store for me. I love you so much.
