We started with the tree. This year we bought a new tree to finally replace the rusty tree we've had before. If you want to read about how it got rusty, check out part I, part II, and part III. You can also check out 2012 decorating and 2013 decorating. But anyway, we got ourselves a new tree so of course the best way to start is to get it out of the box.
As it turned out, a tree sitting in a box is pretty flat and needed some fluffing. Even after I finished it still didn't look all that great. I guess as the years go on it'll fluff up more and look fuller. Dang tree.
Of course as I was trying to make the tree not look so sad, Addison was already decorating.
We took a little break from tree decorating to get the lights up on the outside of the house. The day we chose to do it, it was about 60 some degrees. It was a gorgeous day.
I'm going to stop you here and warn you that it looks horrible. We wanted to do more than just across like the garage like last year, so we went up. Which meant Rob had to get up on the roof and he was not excited about that. But he survived. As it turned out, we are little lazy and that laziness only gets worst when we're hungry. Since it was lunch time, we wrapped it around the post and that was it.
Every time we look at the house now we laugh at how horrible it is. One year we will get this down....
Back inside I got sidetracked from tree still and decided to string lights at other places around the railings.
Then back to the tree. I ended up needing more tinsel because this tree was taller than the last tree but it wasn't too bad with the lights and the tinsel I did have at the time.
Then to decorating. While we decorated, we turned on some classic Christmas cartoons for Addison. Who doesn't love some Frosty and Rudolph?
So like I said, it's lookin' like Christmas.
