B6

So if you have been following my bullet journal posts then you know that I have been struggling with my bullet journal. I still love the idea of a bullet journal but it wasn't working as a planner for me anymore. I just wasn't using it as much and I really needed something to keep me in line. So I decided to try a new method.

I follow lots of planner girls on Instagram and have seen many different ideas out there. Heck I make planner stickers for a couple different types of planners, but even then I knew it wasn't going to work for me. I had something in mind and I just had to figure out how to make it work for me. So that's when I decided to give a B6 rings a try.

For those that don't know B6 is the size of the planner (my bullet journal notebook size was A5 just for reference) and rings meant I would be getting punched inserts (pages) to go inside the planner. Then I would organize it by section according to what I needed.

I wanted to combine the many different planners I had. I had my every day bullet journal, a work hobonichi, a planner for meal planning and a health/fitness/wellness planner. It was just too much for me at this point of my life so I wanted to combine them. I knew I would miss the notebook part of it but I just couldn't figure out how to combine them all and make it work in a bullet journal form. So I switched to a B6 in order to combine them all in sections within the planner.

My first section is my monthly section. I always need monthly calendars. I don't know how people don't keep a calendar but I definitely need one and it's in the front for me. I used inserts from LightsPlannerAction and all my dashboards (dividers with the girls basically) are all from the digital subscription box by Planner Press that I can change out monthly with new designs which keeps it fresh.

The insert that I got was a month on four pages which means that I have my two pages for my calendar and my tasks and habits pages. This is basically exactly what I had in my bullet journal but I don't have to draw it out each month.

Next I have a folder which I made and works perfectly for holding stickers. Then the next section is my daily section. I didn't keep a weekly calendar in my bullet journal but I like to keep daily to-do lists. I have a place to put my to-dos in addition to other details about my day. I have a bunch of Happy Planner sticker books around here so that's what I'm using on my daily pages to decorate it a little because it's fun and why not?!

My next section is my health/wellness/fitness section. I track how much water I drink (which I am terrible at doing), I track my steps, my workout and the calories I burned from that, and just jot down a few notes about what I ate. Although I do like these inserts a lot, I just don't have the room I need so I might be switching this section up completely - even to the point of putting together a separate notebook just about health/wellness and fitness. There's more to that than I'm saying and I'll explain some time but for now this is working and I'm switching with it until I decide.

Next starts my work planner. This first section is my monthly work planner. I write out what's coming up in the next month like what I'm doing for $2 Tuesday and Foil Fridays, plus any sales and new releases for the month. It just keeps me straight with what's coming and planning forward. And since I didn't scrub out anything you get a peek at what's coming up for rest of August.

The next section is my weekly work planner. I have a little pouch that was part of the Planner Press box to hold any stickers I use for my work layouts. Then I have weekly inserts as my work planner. I don't need dailies just for work but just need to keep track of what I need to do each day and what's coming with Instagram posts and what not. It's a great way to keep all work things straight.

The next section is my meal planning section. I'm not sure how I feel about this section exactly. I'm not sure it's going to completely work for me just because I don't have enough room. I'm feeding a family of four and a half (Emma is on a strict diet of formula and purees). I don't need to know what's for breakfast or lunch every single day because it's all pretty much the same but I do need more room for my actual list. So I'm not sure these inserts will work for me in the long run but for now these are working.

My last section is my collection section. I have my Royals schedule in there. I have Emma's milestones. A page for quotes, a TV tracker, and other miscellaneous things back there that just don't have a home anywhere else. This gives me what I had in my bullet journal where I could have all my random pages of random things and I would miss using a traditional planner.

So there you have it. So far this is working for me although I do miss my notebook. I'm going to stick with this for now and continue to make this work for me. I might end up going back to my bullet journal at some point but for now I am enjoying using this B6.
