We had a great anniversary actually. For the first time, Addie stayed with Grandma and Papa overnight so we could have a day and a night all to ourselves. We didn't do too much, but it was nice to be kid-free. We went bowling, we sat The Avengers, we went out to eat then we did some kid-free shopping. Honestly it was weird being out after 8pm, but nice to be just the two of us.
We decided a couple years ago that instead of getting gift for each other that we would do a joint gift. But like for the last few years, we struggled to figure out what we gift ourselves. Since four years is fruit, flowers and appliances, we went with some outside plants. Not exactly the most fun gift in the world but we were okay with it so that's what matters. We then spent the time together putting the plants in (although not on our actual anniversary).
We are working on the curb appeal of our house. It's still a work in progress but a start for our anniversary.
As part of our anniversary, we always take a picture with our picture frame of our previous years pictures. It's an on-going project that we love to see grow. Our wedding picture is getting smaller and harder to see and our kid is getting bigger. We wanted this as a way of seeing how we have changed and how our family has changed over the years of our marriage. (Read more about our tradition here.)
I wish I could say that we didn't do any photo-shopping this year but once again we did. It was once again on the picture thanks to an awful glare but at least we were all smiling normally this year. (Read about the past photoshop jobs here.)
All in all it was a great anniversary. Honestly, the last year of our marriage has been a little rough but I think that has only brought us together and strengthen our marriage. So here's hoping this next year will be a little easier. Here's hoping we have only good things for our future.
Here's to many more anniversaries and years to come.
xo, B
